Max Tzinman's Wasteland
In his show of new work at Atlantic Gallery, Max Tzinman continues to explore mob mentality. 'I am fascinated and repelled by the hypnotizing appeal of the Mob', says Tzinman.
His disturbing images explore the danger of groupthink and the anonymity that accompanies the comfort of merging with the mob. The work asks us to contemplate: What drives this willingness to surrender individual truth, this willingness to accept the myth making all around us? Can we hold on to our individual humanity in the face of this drift towards conformity? The works in the show start digitally, in two or three dimensions/dioramas, adding layers of mixed media (acrylic, oil, collage, metal) to create still structures and moving images, light and sound. Max Tzinman was born in Romania and has lived in Israel, Canada and US, immersing himself in a multitude of cultures that influenced his artistic/philosophical concepts. |
